Got a "lifer" yesterday! And the best part is the location. At the end of my street, a friend has feeders in his garden. And this little lady is a regular visitor!
Not the best of shots - very low light, high iso and slow shutter speed.

Tom, a lifer is a birding term for something seen for the first time, preferably rare. Black Redstarts are infrequent at best, and generate small groups of twitchers trying to view them!
Thanks for the explanation. I didn't even know there was a black Redstart!
Tom.
Just to confuse matters, there's also a Redstart - and that lives up to its name too!
Target this winter is a Waxwing, but still missing out on that one.
I know the Redstart, I just didn't know there was a black one. I've seen Waxwings in Lincolnshire in winter, but never anywhere else in the country.
Good luck with your quest!
Tom.
You've captured her daintiness and that cute little puffed out tummy - your pic has cheered me greatly so it's a fine snap for me.
Tom you asked before I got a chance...thank you!
What a beautiful bird...and how exciting for you too!
xx
Thanks Deana and Missy!
I'm not a real twitcher, but if it's viewable I'm there!

For thos of us who aren't twitchers, what's a "lifer"? Should I recognise that bird?
Tom.
